Jules and Jim, 1962 - ★★★★

The first half is brilliant. The second half drags. The end is depressing. It's like seeing two different films. One is lively, visually inventive, illuminating. The other digs a hole for itself and lands with a thud. Melodrama meh. Still, it's a landmark film in so many ways with its depiction of sexuality, gender, and life-as-art. letterboxd.com/docuguy/film/ju
